We have wheels

We finally have some wheels of our own.  It was rather amusing trying to find a car in a small town.  The car dealership here goes online and finds what you want and they get it here for you to look at.  You have to be pretty sure you want it first though because they go to quite a bit of expense and time to find it and get it here.  It’s a 2007 GWM 2.2 Lux double cab – what South Africans call a “bakkie” – pretty much anything that looks similar to this – single or double cab is called a bakkie.  I think they call them pick-up’s or trucks elsewhere.  The colour is rather weird – it’s called champagne silver.  Champagne is never silver!  It’s more gold in my eyes. The car looks goldish greenish metallic – depending on the light – nothing whatsoever like silver which is my favorite colour.

It’s going to have to look after us for a long, long time.  Again I would like to thank Rob and Tracey for their kindness in lending us their bakkie for three months – I really don’t know what I would have done without their kindness.  You  are stars!

    • Engine Layout is longitudinal inline 4 cylinder – same as the Toyota with natural aspiration. 2 valves per cylinder and a capacity of 2237. The compression ratio is 8.8:1 with an electronic ignition (are you bored yet?)
and finally it has a 5-speed manual gearbox
