Our river has risen quite significantly over the last three days. Here is a picture I took last Sunday when the river had already risen a bit and one of the same tree, taken on Thursday.
There has been a significant amount of rain over most of the country – a different kind of rain. Our summer rains are normally late afternoon thunderstorms which clear quickly. This rain has been the ‘all day, all week’ type of rain. Some people are happy and others complain a bit – but we all know how much we need the water and are grateful.
I used to really dislike long grey damp days in Europe but I find them so wonderful here. The bush becomes almost magical, and the sound of dripping water and twittering birds seems to echo.
